To start, I got this knife as a gift for my father for Christmas. I haven't tried to sharpen it or use it in the field, this is just my opinion of it straight out of the box.
The knife blade and handle are well made. It sits nicely in the hand, looks great, and everything is perfectly flush.
With wood handled knives there's a chance of tool marks on the handle, not on my model.
Came exactly how it looks in the picture, which has been an issue for me with a previous knife from bucknbear.
The lock doesn't always work. Which is dangerous. It did not work the first few times I opened the knife, which I was expecting. I've opened it over 20 times to get all of the parts moving together, and about 1 in 4 times it doesn't lock, even though it looks like it is. Hopefully this gets better, but for now, I am very unimpressed with the locking mechanism.
It is very light. This isn't necessarily bad, its just much, much lighter than I expected.
The sheath is awful. The design of the sheath is great, the knife slips easily in and out, the proportions are all correct, and it sits nicely on your belt. The way they processed the leather makes it feel tacky and like plastic. I swore it was plastic when I first felt it. The intent may have been to have the sheath be water-resistant, but in reality it just feels terrible.
Three stars because of the poor locking mechanism and strange sheath.
